APC 'False' Reboot Alerts

We have been using one of the custom APC pollers from the Thwack library to monitor our UPS units for a few years now. Recently we have experienced a rash of false reboot alerts from the UPS units.. When the alerts first started happening we logged in to the management interface on the UPS and found that it had not restarted. I know that the custom poller is not used for the reboot alert since that is a standard SNMP trap so I do not think the poller has anything to do with the problem.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar with an APC UPS or any other type of equipment? Any troubleshooting suggestions?

I've had this before, where a number of UPS scream "reboot" around about the same time. It was somewhat coincidental that the same UPS's were powered up around the same time approximately 496 days before.

Perhaps also coincidental then that the sysuptime counter has a total lifetime of 496ish days, so as says, almost certainly counter rollover which, unless handled will do exactly the same thing in about 15 months, so do an annual firmware update, and no more problem...

If those units have been up forever, it's possible the uptime counter they are reporting rolled over. Might just restart the management card- always a good time to upgrade the firmware too.

Definitely appears to be the issue. Was not aware of the problem with the counter rollover. Monitoring around 70 or 80 of these things and it has been a pain recently. Thanks for the feedback.
