Web Reports - Average Percent Memory Used doesn't display a percentage :(

Hi Thwackers,

I'm creating a web report, which is a like-for-like replica of a Report Writer report I already have, which displays the information I want correctly. However, when I recreated the report in the web, I found that the field 'Average PERCENT Memory Used' does not show a percentage, just a numerical value. Below is a snip showing the erroneous field and it's settings:

Has anyone else come across this odd behaviour? Whist I could simply use the legacy report scheduler to send the report writer version out, I really wanted to use the newer format (logos ftw).

Change the Display setting to Custom Format and configure it to 0.00 '%' or {0:0.00} %. I guess the reasoning is that technically a percentage is not a data unit?

I thought about that, but the figures it shows are the same as average memory usage, so it looks like it's not showing a percentage masked as another unit type. It's quite odd!

I have also ran into this issue. We have reverted back to using the legacy reporting tool for our reporting needs.I have not seen another thread on this topic, do you know if there is an open case for this problem ?

Hey guys, probably out of topic, but can I perform basic math in Display Settings? I just need to multiply value by 1000 before i output it. Can this be done?

Doesn't look like you can with Custom Format. It seems to want to treat almost everything as a literal string.

If you don't mind a nonsensical unit after your value, you can trick the column to return the appropriate calculation. For example, with a Data Unit and Bytes (1000) under "Display setting", set "Units in my database" to KB and then "Scale units as" to B.

If you're willing to cheat, you can just append 'e+03' to the end of your value. Exponential notation is completely valid! Just keep shouting that if someone asks what the e means. Something like this: {0:0.0000e+3}

The Custom Format seems to follow some tenants of Custom Numeric Format Strings for the .NET Framework, but not all of them.

Of course, the best option is to do the calculation in SQL/SWQL but you already knew that. Any reason why you can't?

Thanks Joe for your help on this. I have actually found a native way of achieving what I wanted. In my DB value is stored in seconds and I needed to display them in milliseconds. Well, using Data Unit I can do exactly that. I have set units to display in ms and values stored in DB as seconds - that did exactly what I wanted - I just missed the fact that I can set what values stored in DB in first place.

Also, it is aways good to know that Display Settings is not very friendly with math functions
