World Map Populated Now what?

Hi Everyone,

I've been going through out network and adding addresses to each of the nodes and so far about 1/3rd of the way done. As I've been adding more nodes to the map thought I've been trying to figure out what is the outcome?

We have a large TV I was going to put the map into the rotation of our NOC view but really the map is just a map with blue pins of each location while neat for anyone walking by or whatever it doesn't really tell us anything useful.

Am I missing the point here of the world map function? I know you can hover over and see "nodes with problems" but that isn't helpful is there anything your doing to spice up your world maps or is there added functionality I'm not aware of to show things like a red pin if the location is down? our map has over 250 individual locations and I'm not done.

I've spent a decent amount of time manually going through and adding addresses to nodes and the more I spend doing it the more it seems like a giant waste of time.

I'd love to know how you utilize your world map.

World map already changes the color of the pins at a location if the node is down, it goes yellow if some of many at a site is down and red if all the nodes at a site are down.  There is a customization I have used to add a weather overlay as well which is kind of nice, but those are the main things it does.  Shows where things are, and if they are up/down.

Adding Live Weather to the "Worldwide Map" Resource

Except for the fact that execs and managers tend to love them, I find that the ROI is rarely super high for building area maps for NOC views unless I was at a place where techs often had to be dispatched from one site to another, and those cases are pretty uncommon if you have good OOB access.  If I'm in a NOC I just need an IP address to "find" a device and where it physically sits doesn't really make a difference.  A decent logical diagram added to Atlas makes more sense than spending a lot of time on geographical relationships.  I also tend to get more useful data per inch of screen real estate from custom reports/queries and getting detailed with the groups/application monitors.
