Monitoring Server Hung

We are using SAM for monitoring the servers in our environment. but we couldn't monitor the  Server hung issues because ,event during Server hung scenarios server is

pingable and its status is shown as Up. Kindly provide a KB article for monitoring server hung issues

There's no KB per say since a "hung" state can have many different reasons, but more identifying monitoring points that can help you next time this happens.

**The easiest method would be to Install SAM agent - when the agent stops responding or reporting back to SAM then it's assumed hung

If you want to further look into "trapping" the issue

1) Port or user type experience. MAPI Exchange or web based monitor HTTP Monitor are examples of SAM monitors to ensure application is servicing

2) There's a powershell commandlet that can report a service state (get-process, get-service) and when used inside a SAM Script Monitor can assist with service state response.

3) Ensure you are monitoring processes that are part of the application served by the host for I/O or CPU activity for a sustained amount of polls and if "less than x" for a number of polls (to avoid false positives) SAM can alert.

4) Look for and monitor a windows event should it produce one related to hanging
