UDP Chart Labels

Does anyone know of a way to enumerate the labels of a UDP chart or pull the labels from a table different from where the data is being collected from?

I have a UDP chart created which is polling the current connections of the pool members in a BIG-IP setup. I set the UDP to get the label from a column on the table which happens to be an IP address. When I view the chart, the data is there, but the labels are weird ascii characters instead of the ip addresses. I can't seem to figure out how to get this one working. Other charts work fine when getting labels from the tables (as long as they aren't ip addresses).

Turns out the NHRP MIB I am using is VRF aware.

This changes the MIB results when used in a VRF configuration - something that Orion doesn't support when using UnDP custom pollers.

I don't understand why Cisco are implementing VRF aware MIB's in this way - makes it very hard for vendors like Solarwinds to deal with them.

Will put additional data in a feature request.

Did you find a solution for this - I have the same issue with the CISCO-NHRP-MIB when looking at IP addresses in the cache state table.

In my example, a MIB walk shows the strange characters in the nhrpCacheNextHopnetworkAddr field - so it's not Solarwinds doing something funny with the data.

The MIB OID however actually contains the IP address (in this case 10.125.138.1).

I haven't seen this behaviour before (and I've got no idea how to get this into a UnDP label....)

No solution yet. When I use MIB Browser, I am seeing the addresses formatted correctly, but when I use the UDP to gather the data and display it in a chart, it shows up as the funky characters like you have in your pic. Very strange.

Could you please send me the full OID so that I can verify this in the database? Also are you using the MIB walk and MIB browser functions from the Toolset? If so then the database in the Toolset vs the Orion could be two different database versions. If one is correct in the readings then I would suggest copying it from its location and moving it to the Orion location for MIBs and see if this resolves the issue.

Here is an outline on locations where the products use the database from:

1. Navigate to your installation folder using Windows Explorer and locate the MIBs.cfg file. By default, you can find the MIBs.cfg file in one of the following locations:

* Orion NCM: \Program Files\SolarWinds\Configuration Management

* Orion: \Program Files\SolarWinds\Common

* Toolset v8: \Program Files\SolarWinds\Engineer's Edition\

* Toolset v9: \Program Files\SolarWinds\Engineer's Toolset\

* Toolset v10 (placement based on Windows OS):

-Windows Server 2003 and earlier use \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SolarWinds\

-Windows Vista or 2008 Server use \ProgramData\SolarWinds\
