I have noticed that some of our Dell servers that we monitor hardware health on are not showing the health of the hard disks. I can see CPU, Memory erc - but no disk sensors. open manage v8.3 and solarwinds agent installed.
What am i missing?
Dell exposes disk health through SNMP, but hasn't traditionally done this via WMI. Here's an example of a post with work-arounds (Dell Servers - Disk Hardware Health via SNMP) for a non-agent situation (WMI monitoring.)
I don't have personal experience with a SW agent on a Dell server, but I suspect it may be impacted by this condition...

I guess for now we will just have to rely on the openmange notifications.

I'm running the (Windows) SNMP service on my Dell servers here and have them trap up to SolarWinds; then I log and email (no Advanced Alerting integration for traps...grrr) on the disk health traps. An inelegant work-around, but no additional cost and fairly straight-forward to get set up. Sounds like you are probably already getting email from OpenManage, so not much gained for you by setting up the traps perhaps.
Yeah its mainly trying to achieve a 'single pain of glass' - all alerts coming from the same place etc.
I've ended up changing all the servers to SNMP, then adding a SAM template to monitor the WMI disk queues. This seems to work, but i do lose some of the audit information like Windows Updates, which is a bit annoying - but for now will do.

Does anyone know if Dell plans to update this? I have a ton of physical Dell servers that Solarwinds is using WMI to poll but none of the local disks show up in the Hardware health. The component that is prone to fail the most is the one I'm not watching. :-\
