Windows Scheduled Tasks

I have a requirement to monitor some Windows Scheduled tasks. I basically need to monitor if a task has been successfull, failed or if it has been running for more than a certain time. Can I do this with App monitor

Will this be possible. Has anyone out there has done anything like this.

Yes and no. Great answer, huh? Anyway, this would be possible using a VB script as long as the scheduled tasks were created using one of the following methods:

The schtasks.exe command-line tool
Microsoft's downloadable Task Scheduler agent
Windows shell scripting commands

Most likely though, they were created using the built-in Task Scheduler and according to this article from the TechNet Scripting Guy, you wouldn't be able to manage these tasks due to a different API. Therefore, to manage them through a script, you'd have to delete the tasks and recreate them using one of the aforementioned methods.

Possible? Definitely yes. Worthwhile? Depending on the number and complexity of the scheduled tasks, only you could answer that.
