Server's CPU in real-time - Can it be monitored?

Is there anything in Solarwinds products to give a real-time (moving needle/speedometer-type effect) for a server's CPU utilization (including multiple CPUs)?

We don't like using the Windows Task Manager CPU monitor, so we are looking for something else.

Yes, there is a tool inside the Solarwinds Toolset product called CPU Gauge that does that, but i think it only supports Cisco devices and windows servers.

Do you know how often this is refreshed? I have tried this tool but I can't find any settings for polling/refreshing/updates.

In Router CPU Load polling frequency is configurable in intervals starting at "1 sec" (Realtime) or 5 or 1 minute decaying average.

CPU gauge I believe its not configurable, but it's someting between 10 and 20 sec each poll.

You will also want to check out the WorkSpace Studio in the SolarWinds Toolset, as it has CPU monitoring gadgets as well.

Most SNMP monitoring of CPU is done by obtaining an average value that the host device actually calculates. Some devices offer differing periods (1 min/5 min) average, so the refresh rate is not that important. Another factor is that when a device is really busy with real work, it might slow down information publishing to the management agent (which is a a good thing).
