When will SYSLOG Viewer and Alerts be updated to the 21st century?

I've had Orion installed since 8.5.1, and currently have close to 600 syslog alerts set up. Every piece of the syslog seems as if it were from windows 95. I have put in feature requests multiple times to no avail. There is no type of management at all for the alerts, and its quite frustrating. How about having to hit the up or down arrow 599 times to get an alert to the top? Thats just for starters.

Please please please update this to current standards. (I've been waiting years). Your lack of commitment on this topic makes me wonder what else you are going to develop and more or less abandon?

We aren't expecting Orion customers to move to Kiwi for their syslog needs. We have added functionality to Syslog and Traps over the last few years, but we haven't updated the UI. We haven't done it because UI rewrites are big items in a release. For every release, we have to pick something, and so far, rewriting those two haven't made it. But I can assure you it's not nefarious and it's not neglect; it's just a matter of priorities. We do plan to do it.

I hear ya. Big frustration of mine too.

One of the biggest improvements in this area would be to allow import/export of predefined alerts so that they can be downloaded and/or shared between NPM users. Why make customers reinvent the wheel to monitor a set of standard Cisco syslogs for example?

yes yes yes yes... please help us here....

i started a post last year where i was asking the community to fire in updates on what they deem as important systlogs and traps, so we could build a high level DB of what sysoogs mean what and whcih ones to alert on, but it did not really get any traction... it would be great to have a list of all critical events from a cisco router etc, we would definitely be getting more towards the enterprise level products then, like CA spectrum and the likes where not only polling, but syslog and TRAP dictate the current health of a box

It sort of seems like they want people to use Kiwi instead. All of the answers I've seen consist of "have you tried kiwi?"

Well, that is NOT an option for many of us, and if that is your 'answer', then I guess I need to find a new product all together.
