Why Node is showing grey Color ?

Hi guys,

we have added one windows server node with agent polling method. recently IOC team un-managed state and managed for patching purpose after that device showing unknown state (grey color) in solarwinds . i tried changed polling engines and number times polled and rediscovered also but no luck.

we checked with server team end agent service is running and working fine . only one node it is having problem. rest of all nodes are working fine.

can you please give me suggestion back to green or red color to node

Yes Pratikmeht.. when i clicked on node edit properties agnet is running fine in polling method. but node status is showing unknown with color of grey

Are u able to ping the device from Solarwinds?

Yes. I am able to ping from all solarwinds polling enginee servers. changed polling engine also. but no luck.

Are there NO monitored components, applications, or interfaces on this server that are in an unknown state?

Grey, or Unknown status means the test wasn't completed.

Some troubleshooting ideas:

Manage agents -> restart agent service on the node in question
Check the NextPollUTC date against the node. If it's in the past try:
1. Reset the JobEngine service on the poller it's attached to
2. Hit Poll Now a few times
3. Move the node to a new polling engine (and back perhaps)
4. Remove and readd the node
5. Maybe ask a DBA to manually reset it? Shouldnt need this step
