My security manager and I are lost as to how to configure the McAfee ESM application to allow Solarwinds NPM to gather information from over using SNMP v3 . Here are the desired settings:
Protocol: snmpv3
Port: 161
Authentication: SHA1
Encryption/Privacy: AES128
We have a standard read only username, auth password, and encryption password.
On the ESM side, the security manager opened up the ESM configuration screen and shared it with me using an online meeting application( eg WebEx)
For SNMP, he configured the
protocol to snmpv3
port to 161
authentication to sha1
privacy to aes128 .
In addition, he allowed the Solarwinds poller's IP address access to poll ESM. So far, so good.
But, there is not place to specify the username or the passwords. We drilled down through every setting option available, and could not find a place to enter this information.
Has this happened to anyone here before? If so, where do you set the username and encryption passwords?
