Hi,
Is it possible to export a PerfStack analysis into report e.g. PDF?
Thanks
perfstack does not have any exporting capabilities to my knowledge. You can save the chats and share that link.
If you're wanting to save a PerfStack as a PDF, this functionality is native to most browsers and operating systems. We are however working on allowing users to export PerfStack data to Excel.
Have you seen what the output PDFs look like for PerfStack views when using native browser capabilities? It's really not usable. I'll send you an example if you want to see it, but suffice to say it's crazy-looking. Reversed text, jumbled text-on-text, etc. On occasion, the desired outcome is to share a well-rendered snap of a PerfStack page without having to share a link (for example, sharing a view with a vendor/carrier when security policies prevent us from sharing the direct URL).
Each browser handles this differently. Some better than others. In order to bring users new capabilities, and improve web performance and usability, we are in the process of modernizing the Orion web interface. This new technology renders web pages in web browser, rather than on the server itself, which means eventually no more website compiling delays upon startup!
This new modern approach to web design however, no longer allows for server side exporting to PDF. Instead, because the page is rendered in the client browser, the function of saving web pages to a PDF must be handled by the web browser itself or by the client operating system.
I've attached an example export of PerfStack from FireFox, which is usable. I will openly admit that Chrome does not handle this quite as well, and I'm a huge Chrome fan.
As you can probably imagine, even with over 1 Billion Google Chrome users today, this isn't an easy problem to solve for today's modern web applications. There are however alternatives which achieve similar results, such as Microsoft's snipping tool, COMMAND-SHIFT-4 on a Mac, as well as 3rd party solutions like FastStone Capture and browser plugins like Full Page Screen Capture which allow you save full scrolling windows.
Understood - thanks for taking the time to reply.
Has anyone found a fix for this over the last 23 months since reported? My customer seems not to have Firefox deployed. IE export to PDF produces nothing (no PDF). Chrome export gives the mirrored text described in this thread.
Still struggling with this, built a sweet collection of perfstacks for a client and then when they wanted to show them off we got completely stuck on this issue. Can't send the report out if half the text is backward
