Application Dependency Mapping (ADM)
Leverage SAM’s ability to automatically discover the relationships between applications and servers, based on active application communication. Use ADM to discover and monitor connections between applications, as well as connections between applications and nodes. It can also show metrics such as latency and packet loss. You can use ADM data to:
Ensure that the most important data for specific applications are being monitored.
Identify unmonitored applications and processes that may need attention.
Leverage latency and packet loss metrics to identify whether an issue is caused by an application or the network.
ADM is available in several places within the Orion Web Console. The Incoming Connections resource lists all connections to and from the node or application and is available on the Node Details and Application Details pages. You may see the Connections resource on details pages even if the server does not have ADM enabled, because other ADM-enabled servers may be connecting to it. If you have Connection Quality polling enabled, you will also see latency and packet loss for each connection.
