What devices may show up as Unidentified Nodes?

I have several L2 switches with no IP addresses. Would these show up as unknown nodes? Will NTM correctly identify the devices connected to this switch?

Hi,

Dave Your L2 nodes needs to respond to SNMP, to be correctly identified. If the nodes does not respond to SNMP, most likely it would be polled using ICMP.

In this case it would show up as unknown nodes.

Thanks for your reply. These switches have no IP address so cannot respond to ICMP. Map image is below.Node details are all unknown and name will be something like Unidentified_252. I think I can infer the identity of the switch from the connected nodes but I am curious about how NTM determines what nodes are connected to the Unidentified node (port numbers are not identified).
