Hi All,
Is solarwinds NCM support RADIUS or TACCAS+ authenication method please advice.
Can we integrate login authentication with RSA SecureID Token (2 factore authentication).
Thanks and Regards,
I have an ancient ticket on this subject, #65943 (such a sore point, I have the ticket number memorized) but *allegedly* NCM supports AD authentication, but that doesn't work for me, and I'd suspect others. I'd love to see it support any/all of these listed in order of preference:
1) LDAP (especially because TACACS+ supports LDAP, as does almost anything other than windows).
2) NPM user accounts, complete with restrictions imposed on said NPM users.
3) RADIUS, because it's old, crusty, and doesn't support accounting to go along with authentication, it's really only viable if you want to custom-hack a radius client/server to do encryption and authentication, and while you're at it, add in accounting, or just use TACACS+ with LDAP behind it.
Why? Because I want my router logins proxied by NCM, but not in the stunted non-functional, decentralized fashion SW has written the product to be so far.

Hi Pserwe,
Thanks
One workaround since you have NPM is to install the NCM 5.5 integration module on your NPM server. The NCM 5.5 integration module now includes support for all the capabilities previously only available through the standalone NCM website, including config management operations (upload, download, execute script), inventory, compliance, etc. When accessing config management operations and information through the NCM integration module, all NPM node limitations and account view limitations are respected.

Great, so what you're saying Chris, is that I can do full NCM operations from NPM authenticated users? Awesome. As soon as the issues slow down with 9.5 (i.e.: 9.5 SP2 is released) I'll push both of those updates out. 9.5, 5.5+integration. I am anxiously awaiting having centralized user authentication.
What's the roadmap to further integrate the products by having node provisioning for NPM and NCM be a single process if you've got both products installed and licensed? Do the nightly sync jobs work yet?
By the way, I have to say, the centralized user base is a great move I've been (not always so nicely) asking for, for quite a while..
My next nag is going to be centralized auth tie-ins for NPM/NCM, so I can tie things into my burgeoning LDAP environment, and
Cool, we hope it delivers on what you were looking for. If not, I'm sure we'll hear some good feedback that will help us improve ;-)
We've got LDAP/AD authentication on the roadmap. Do you have AD or just LDAP? If just LDAP, which LDAP server are you using?
