Is there a way to alert based on specific content that was returned on a web page? For example, if the phrase "error" appears on the page at all?

The answer is yes. In SAM, 2 of the application components are "HTTP Monitor" and "HTTPS Monitor." About 3/4 of the way down the page is a "Search String" field. Just put what you are searching for in there, in this case "error." Then you can enable the default "Component" alert in Orion. Or you can build your own alert...your choice.
