Help with Custom Ticket fields

What I want to do is have a request type (New Hardware Request) I want to have them pick an option either Laptop or desktop and then from there I want them to get a secondary prompt for a specific type or laptop or desktop. So for instance if they were requesting a laptop and it was an engineering laptop they would get a prompt for laptop and then they would choose engineering from a list of options can you someone help me to figure out how this setup would work in the system?

Cant do this now, but I think you may want to look at this feature request. You can comment on it but since its status is "What were working on" you can no longer up/down vote it.

Not completely sure I am following you... but can you do this with request type? May depend on how many options you need to specify:

Request Type:

New Desktop -- under there Accounting Desktop, HR Desktop, etc...

New Laptop -- under there Engineering Laptop, Graphic Design Laptop, etc...

What I was getting at on this one was my boss wants a drop down for desktop or laptop from there he wants a set of two options engineering or standard. Does that make sense?

Yes, You can show different custom fields per request type.I thought you wanted multiple custom fields to build off each other which is something different.

When you create the custom field you can tell it what request type you want it to be used in.
