Does solarwinds offer a self-service password reset tool? We have one with our current helpdesk but are switching to web helpdesk so I am in need of a replacment
Will you by syncing your users with LDAP (very easy to do with WHD)? If so you won't need a separate password or a way to reset it.
Sorry I should have been more clear.
The tool I am looking for allows users to reset their own AD passwords from the login screen after answering a series of questions. below is a descript of the tool we currently use.
Password Manager provides a simple, secure, self-service solution that enables end users to reset forgotten passwords and unlock their accounts. Now your organization can implement stronger password policies while reducing its help desk workload. With Password Manager, you no longer have to sacrifice security to reduce costs.
Password Manager supports the widest range of data security standards so you can implement secure data access policies beyond the control offered natively in Active Directory.
If you sync WHD with LDAP then their login will be the same as their AD login. We also just recently switched from another product that didn't us the LDAP. Now that I have it syncing its been a feature everyone loves.
I know, I guess I shouldn't have posted in the helpdesk forum but didn't know where else to put it.
We need a way for our users to reset their own AD domain account passwords when they get locked out of the domain. (right from the windows login screen)
We would like to use a Solarwinds tool if one is available otherwise we will use thycotic password reset.
fcpsolaradmin I'm curious on the Password Manager that you currently use. You question sounds like one of the issues that I'm having with my users. If possible, could you provide the link to your current password manager.
Thanks
We are utilizing a tool from Thycotic. Thycotic Password Reset Server. It was easy to setup and deploy and so far has been meeting all of our requirements.

I would like to hear more on what customers are doing or would like to do for self service needs.Would a landing page (pre-login) portal help? Perhaps roll or department based (ex. faculty/staff/students/HR/Facilities)? Okay now that I digressed - back to this original request. It's always something we toss around, but when I start thinking of all the features it would need to support (reset and vault options) it quickly becomes a massive separate "product like" build-out quickly running from a "feature" offering in WHD to a full blown $$ offering for the service space. In short, I'd like to say that we are not ready to offer a feature or product but will always keep the door open.
Has anyone used Microsoft's built in Password Reset Option? Works in a pinch to reset expired and allows for password change,

we currently implemented ManageEngine ADSelfService Plus. for our size organization it is $500.00 per year to keep the M&S up to date. its very good - it has the ability for users to register with 2-3 security questions and unlock their AD account and they can also change their password from this site as well
