Transform APC "upsBasicStateOutputState"

I am trying to transform the results from OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.1.11.1.1 for APC UPS's which reads the current state of the UPS.

it returns an ASCII string containing the 64 flags representing the current state(s) of the UPS.

Has anyone used this? And has anyone found a way to transform the data into a useable format?

I had the same problem and then I found this OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.4.1.1 Which is upsBasicOutputStatus.

I was just wanting a notification if the UPS switched to battery so it was perfect for me.

Hi,

If you expand "Show Advanced Options", select Enumeration format while setting up the UnDP and then click on Map Values, does it convert the ASCII strings into something meaningful?

Ensure you are using the latest MIB Database.

Login to the Customer Portal.
Click on Orion MIB Database to download the updated MIB.
Follow the instructions in the Readme file included in the Archive to install the update.

Here is the definition of this OID:

An ASCII string containing the 64 flags representing
the current state(s) of the UPS. If the Network Card
is unable to determine the state of the UPS , this
variable is set to 'UNKNOWN'.

The flags are numbered 1 to 64 , read from left to
right. The flags are defined as follows:

Flag 1: Abnormal Condition Present
Flag 2: On Battery
Flag 3: Low Battery
Flag 4: On Line

I do have the latest mibs and your last post show my problem how do I enumerate those reponses? Has anyone tried or does anyone know of a better way to monitor the battery health, bypass etc...

I am not sure of a way to report on this OID with Orion. The issue is that the OID returns a 64 character binary string. For example:

Each value in the string represents the status of one of the 64 flags.

It would seem hard to be able to enumerate the status by using the string as a whole value. You would need to parse the string or convert it to an array and then base your enumeration on each item in that array. Both of which aren't currently possible in Orion as far as I know.

I to am looking for a good way to use this 64 bit value.

This does not convert the sting to anything meaningful for me.

Is it possible to put a wild card value in the Map values? you could then with some work put in several 64 bit values with the fields you are looking for.
