Windows Server 2008 R2 unable to pass credentials

Hey all,

I've been running into an odd issue with APM and Windows Server 2008 R2 machines. I have some stored credentials in APM that are added to the servers during the build process. I have verified that the credentials work to log onto the machine and appropriate rights have been given to the user account (local administrator). Windows firewall has been disabled on the R2 machines in question and there are several 2003 machines that sit on the same network segment as these R2 boxes.

Whenever I go into APM and attempt to apply a template to monitor a service or a process on the Windows Server 2008 R2 servers APM states the credentials are invalid. I have verified that these credentials are the same credentials applied to my 2003 servers on the same network segment. Has anyone else run into this before with Windows Server 2008 R2?

In 2008R2, a user as an administrator isn't the same as it was in 2003. I found this document helpful:

Hello jrich,
I would look on differences between 2003 and 2008 authentication. Maybe your 2008 servers require some additional security aspect that APM is not providing. Do you have credentials in "DOMAIN\username" form of just "username"? Are you for example able to map network drive from that 2008 R2 using those credentials to APM server?

Some APM monitors require credentials to be allowed to "logon locally" to target computer. Can you logon to target 2008 R2 server using those credentials locally?

Turns out that UAC was enabled. I went ahead and added that registry entry as well for good measure.
