Creating a template for a HP Procurve 4104GL (J4887A)

I've set up NCM for one of our customers and have got all but one device working perfectly, however one of their switches is an HP J4887A ProCurve Switch 4104GL, revision G.07.21, ROM G.05.01 (/sw/code/build/gamo(w02))

This switch when you connect to it via telnet rather than dropping you into the CLI puts you into a text menu system, if you select option 5 on the menu it puts it to the normal CLI and a show run works fine.

What I need to do it create a template that knows how to get the config off the switch, I've had a look through and can't get my head round how they work, can anyone assist?

If it helps the system OID is 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.7.11.27

I've tried both the HP Procurve templates included with NCM and neither of them gets the config off.

Hi Danny,

I have two different suggestions:

1. Use a PreCommand or exploit the reset command to switch to CLI using "option 5". (I.e. use one of these commands to mimic choosing option 5 and the rest of the commands in the template will use normal CLI commands.)
2. Modify the template to reflect the menu-based nature of the device.
