How to: auto set custom variables on scans

Morning,

We have various scans for different types of devices. One scan we have is searching for access points that have been recently added. This scan works fine. I want to make the end users have to configure as little as possible. I've added some custom variables for nodes that must remain on nodes for alerting, such as "responsibleTeamEmail", "DeviceType", etc. I was wondering if there was a way to default all the found devices in the "Access Point" scan could default to the value "Access Point". I have tried to use groups and use queries which worked but I was unable to create an alert on a node which could touch the group variables.

This will allow new nodes to be configured out of the box so the end user doesn't need to worry about configuring anything.

I have a powershell script that does exactly that, check this out

I open this up in the powershell IDE, set the discovery name, set the property I want to change and what I want that value to be, execute the whole deal and I'm done.
