I am a newbie trying to set up WHD. I want to get the process for auto generating asset numbers for my installed base of laptops. Is there a kb article or docs that someone can refer me to? Thanks.
Do you currently have Asset numbers for the laptops and you want to move those into web help desk? Or do you want to generate asset numbers for your existing laptops that don't currently have any?
I would like to be able to generate customized, sequential asset numbers for all the new laptops we get in during the summer for our new students.

Asset numbering is automatic, during the the import process either allow the next free asset number to be automatically be assigned by leaving it blank or set the asset number yourself withe the import template, e.g. starting at 10000
The challenge for us is procurement update the asset registry when placing the PO then the installers or build room team add the asset numbers when the goods arrive or when the deploy or distribute the goods. I initially thought they could just download the export as below update the generic asset number then re-upload it to WHD but I'm finding this just created duplicates
