Hi All,
Can someone tell me the difference between remote poller and additional polling engine?
Thanks,
Alan
This has been asked and answer a few times here on Thwack: Remote Office Poller for Additional Polling Engine
but in essence the ROP is a small lightweight version of the Additional Poller. In terms of installation it is the same, but it can only extend Polling for NPM & SAM and only for a limited number of Nodes (either 250 or 1000). The APE is a lot more expensive but it extends Polling for all modules and doubles your Polling capacity (it does NOT increase your license count).

If I could also add, currently you can only purchase a Remote Office Poller (ROP), if you already have SAM and NPM with unlimited licenses and at least one APE.
You might need HA as well.
Why, I don't know, but I've been chatting to sales guys about these over the past few days.
I can't comment on that as I'm not a sales engineer, but it sounds odd! I do know that if you check out "What we are working on" then it does mention a Remote Poller, which is going to extend the agent to become a sort of proxy polling engine, this may replace the existing ROP product.
If you can provide more context as to what you need an additional poller for, then I am sure the community here can help steer you in the right direction, but talking to your local Sales rep is always a good start as well
Thanks David & Yaquaholic for sharing the information. This will really helpful if we have remote site with limited no. of devices.
