Sort by NodeGroup or Custom Property in web interface

Am I missing something?

In the NCM module in the Orion web interface, is there a way I can sort the nodes by NodeGroup? or even a Custom Property? Right now, it seems to give me a default list of:

None, Response Error, Device Status, System Contact, System OID, Vendor....etc etc.

I'd like to change this if possible, anyone aware of a method to do so?

This is one of the more frustrating issues with the new NCM right now, along with the AD login for config changes etc.

Updating of the All Nodes resource in NCM website to allow grouping by NodeGroup and Custom Property is planned for 5.1. I'm happy to setup a web demo preview for anyone who is interested in seeing what's coming next.

Wrt/ AD login for config changes, I think you mean the ability to pass through AD login username and password to the actual devices without having to store them in NCM. Can you confirm that I'm on the same page?

I'm delighted to hear that it'll be coming so soon as we have over 2000 devices in over database and we have speed issues if we display them on the NCM home page.

I know you guys are probably trying to keep the Orion NPM integration piece as light weight as possible but could there not be some sort of option to transfer over custom properties from the NPM to NCM. We have spent some time refining our groups in NPM and I was disappointed when I discovered that this isn't possible.

I don't know whether you're aware or not but I've been on a good few times annoying people looking for alternative more secure ways of logging on and I know it's on the "roadmap". I'm not a software writer so I can come up with all sorts of fantastic ideas that might not even be possible so please bare with me, also I'm aware you have many customers with many different requirements but to include something similar to what I have outlined below has to be useful to alot of them.

If there was a more secure login process for Orion NPM GUI ie Tacacs or Radius then that process could be included for the NCM web login. I will use Tacacs as an example, if this was used the user logins to NPM/NCM could be the very device login credentials used when making changes to devices which would then allow scheduling of config jobs from the NCM GUI which is something else we're disappointed wasn't included in the NCM web GUI. It would mean a more secure login, user trackablility, editing of user groups through Tacacs, the credentials are still stored on the secure Tacacs server and the level of functionality is incresed in NPM/NCM. But your suggestion regarding the AD login is definitely a good one and would be a reasonable solution for now.

Our big issue with the AD login is due to a policy we have here on ever server which only allows 2 people RDP onto a server simultaniously. It's a pain to say the least but there is no alternative.

Like I said we were disappointed to see that scheduling of config jobs ie upload/download, mass changes etc isn't included as a feature in the Web GUI, is there any plan for this in the future?

I know I've ranted on for a while, thanks for taking the time to read this and don't get me wrong I think both NCM & NPM are superb products I just feel that something like secure integrated login should be a standard feature nowadays
