WHD Azure AD Sync

Is it possible to create a sync from WHD to Azure AD the same way you can with Active Directory?

I thought I already asked this question a while back but couldn't seem to find it and couldn't recall what the answer was though I suspect that it isn't currently possible from what I have found so far.

Yes as long as the ports are open to the dc on azure across the wan.

I think that will work if you are running an IaaS DC in Azure yes, but in my scenario I an running AAR or Azure AD PaaS in which case as best I can tell this doesn't work.
