Is it easier to add 62 nodes to be monitored by an agent to Orion via SDK or via the web UI?

Hi folks,

I'm trying to add 62 Windows server nodes from our DT1 test environment that will be monitored via agent. We'll be monitoring the usual metrics, CPU, Mem, C: and volumes. I bet there's an easy way to do this via SDK as opposed to the web UI... but I'm not sure how to go about it. Powershell? Straight import? I have the information in an Excel spreadsheet which I can easily create a Servers.csv file and import it, perhaps... SW support suggested I add the nodes' IPs as ICMP only, then group switch to agents, but I'd like to find a way to use the SDK and impress my boss and save time. My apologies for asking such a general question, but I couldn't find anything in the forum on this. Perhaps I have the wrong forum. Any help is appreciated.

Have you checked out the Network Discovery?

It looks like you could use IP Ranges, Subnets, IP addresses, and Active Directory. I inherited my set up so I haven't done any bulk nodes but I think that would probably be your best bet.

That would sure be easier than trying to figure out the SDK if you've never used it before!

Yeah, I added a few nodes to use ICMP, then I'll change to Agents, but it doesn't see all the information I need to import into it when I updated one to use the agent, even after waiting a few polls. Agent looks ok in the Agent Management settings.

Which is easiest depends on your expertise. For me, I could add them quickly via the SW GUI. For aLTeReGo or sqlrockstar, my money's on them being able to do it in 30 seconds (or less) via SDK.

There are examples on how to add a node with Powershell.

You actually don't even need the SDK. if you deploy the Agents via Group Policy or through some other software distribution mechanism like SolarWinds Patch Manager or Microsoft SCCM, the Agents will self-register with the Orion server and automatically become managed nodes.
