Wanted to say thanks to Thwack/Solarwinds team for the awesome MVP goodies I received today
I'm so elated to hear some of you are receiving these already! International folks, you should be receiving yours soon hopefully. We emailed Amazon e-gift cards to the countries that would allow us to (US, CA and UK). I am going to reach out to the rest of you individually to gather what power cable and memory card you need.
I'd LOVE if you all would share what you are doing with your Pi's. Right now, I'm working on a THWACK dashboard for the office to show real-time metrics.
Well I just got the Amazon g-card so i ordered the power supply and 2 different SD. 1 was a I love RP3 card preloaded with Noob and the other was a Samsung blank 32 gb I was thinking about making a media center. my 15 year old wants to start coding so i though the Noob OS might give her the ability to play some. Plus with my Echo Dot I am following the likes of patrick.hubbard and his progress with house automation.

Really like to see a Pi compatible Orion agent....
</broken record>
Out of curiosity, what would you do with the Agent if it ran on the Pi?
The main use case I have in mind is to send a pi pre-configured to a remote office to use as a netpath source.
being able to use as a wpm playback location would also be nice.
Similar to something like Netbeez?
Seconded! These gifts are awesome! I already ordered a power supply and pi wireless dongle using the gift card (had a suitable memory card lying about). Just reinforces what I say to all my IT colleagues. Thwack is the greatest tech community out there!
Doesn't the Pi 3 already have Wifi built-in?
Add a USB Network Connection (so one could be used for communication and the other for collecting the SPAN traffic) and run it as a Network collector for QoE.
Dude, nooooo! jeremymayfield sandisk or bust for the microsd lol
Yes, it does. 802.11n though, so it's not AC unfortunately. Since my network is 100% AC for reasons of beamforming throughput, I now think I can understand why silverbacksays would want a dongle if it's for AC.
Or... I could have bought one without realising the Pi 3 had wifi built in, as I'm a pi n00b
It was only £8 so, didn't eat into the gift card too much!
Nice - love the bobble heads
The Samsung actually have better write speed... although it's kinda close.
How about a small agent to poll a few hosts inside a DMZ then pass back the info to the main poller over one encrypted port.
