What is the best way to set things up for non-admins to pull off a stored config

In our organization when a Cisco device goes bad, we have another group that needs to replace it. The current procedure is to call our group and request the config for the device so they can load it into a replacement and deploy it.

I'm evaluating NCM and I'd like to find a way to give them the ability to get the config themselves without giving them the ability to mess anything up.

Can anyone tell me the best way to do this? and can it be done via the web viewer?

In NCM you can give users "WebViewer" role which allows that user to be able to view NCM information on the website including the Configs. Does that get you what you want.

With the new 5.1 version can you filter what the WebViewer can see?

Example:
Restrict users at different locations to only see the config at their site?
Restrict users from seeing firewall / vpn configurations?
Restrict users from seeing specific class of devices?
Eliminate aaa, snmp community, and implemented username from being viewed?

Being able to display the configuration for all viewers may not be the desired result for all implementations.

that could work very well. But when I view the config that way, there are line numbers next to each line which would make it difficult to just cut and paste the viewed config. Is there a way to turn the line numbering off?

I just found the answer to that question. Does the change to no line numbers persist forever after the user changes it under "edit?" Can an administrator set that option for another user?

A great feature would be for the user who is viewing the config to be able to download it rather than having to copy and paste.

Yes the information persists. No the admin can not set this setting for other users.

"download config" is a good feature request. I will pass it along to PM.
