Alerts on tabular UDnP pollers

Hello,

I have set up a new UDnP pollers which checks the status of the fans on our cisco switches. It works perfectly well, single and multiple fan status show up on the node details.

I have now set up an advanced alert which triggers if a fan status changes from normal. I have two switches which have a single chassis fan which are currently at Warning and the alert fires off well.

I am wondering what happens with switches who have multiple fans. If one reads Warning and the other Normal. Will the alarm fire? Is there anyway to test this? Also, is there a way of displaying the tabular data in the alert?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Allright,

I have done a similar poller, for the supply state of the switches. It works perfectly. We have several switches that can have dual power supplies but do not. The resulting alarm is a loop. It polls the switches and finds two values: Normal and NotPresent. So the NotPresent value triggers the alarm but the Normal value resets it automatically.

Is there anyway of making this alarm work on tabular UDnP polls, someway of parsing the alarm.

We are in the exact same situation here, except im not even bothering with the power supply state since if the fan isn't working, it would still need to be looked at and if the power supply stops, so does the fan:). Unfortuantely not all of the cisco devices support polling on power supply so the fan seems to be pretty consistent.

We do get the information polled correctly into orion, and my test alerts show it as normal, but it only sends information on the single fan. How can i have the following happen:

If fan's 1 and 3 are out, i want it to send an email that both fan 1 and fan 3 are out, and possibly that #2 is normal.

We had a situation where the power outage happened at our home office where we are monitoring alot of these fans and stuff at, but we only got the notification that the servers were down, not that the fans were down. Is this a failure of the design of the alerting system? Or will it only do the universal device polling check if the switch/router is powered on?

Thanks for everyones help with this, it just seems frustrating to deal with in UDnP when multiple rows/values are present.
