We have a need to disable certain users from being able to delete notes on tickets. How can we do this? I did not see this permission in the config. Thanks!
Doesn't look like you can do this. I see a 'Client Note Edit' option, but I don't think this will prevent the user from deleting tech notes. This might be a Web Help Desk Feature Requests
By "Users", do you mean clients, or techs? Anything for techs is under "Tech Permissions", which you can assign to tech groups, but there's not a lot of granularity other than that.
Yes, this would be for Techs. I didn't see anything under Tech Permissions.
We're losing Tech Notes and really need something to lock this out. Is there a workaround?
As far as I know, there isn’t. Maybe something that you can file a ticket with Solarwinds for.
Sorry, I thought there was something in there, but I was probably thinking of the "Client Note Edit" and "Request Detail Edit" settings.
I just looked with a couple of our guys, and they have no ability to edit or delete tech notes from someone else, even though one of them has permissions to edit client notes, and both have the ability to edit the request detail. I have the ability to edit or delete tech notes as an admin - I believe that's the only way to do it. There are a number of permissions like that (including approval overrides) that should be an individual permission that does not require admin rights, so you can assign those permissions to certain techs without making them a full admin.
FYI - Admin is set as "Account Type" for the individual users. Also, in Tech Permissions, if the View Techs & Groups option is checked, another option for Tech Edit appears - if this is checked, it will allow the techs with those permissions to edit any permissions that have been assigned, including admin.
