Multiply Users

On my web help desk when I search for Client or users it comes back with more than one user for that person.

I believe it is from the user having accounts on multi domains.

Is there a way or best practice to combine those users?

For example:

User or client search

John Smith                             john.smith@domain.com

John Smith                             jsmith@differnetdomain.net

John Smith                             jsmith@anotherdifferentdomain.net

All of these user are the same and I need to combine in to one.

Is this possible or a better way to do this?
