Use Active Directory in gui applications

Hi All,

I've configured my SolarWinds web interface to authenticate users via AD. However, when I try to login in to the gui NCM tool, it doesn't use these accounts. I still have to use the admin account te be able to log in.

Is there any way to let the gui tools like Configuration Manager to use the AD groups I defined in the webinterface?

Hi Michael,

this works for me, from your explaination I assume you use NCM 7.

At least in NCM 7 you have the Orion Core integration and so you can - like in NPM - add AD users in Web GUI and also login to the application on the server with the same credentials.

One basic thing you have to take care, the NCM Role for this User must be set properly to Admin or Engineer in Web GUI User Managment:

Administrator: Unlimited access to NCM functionality.

Engineer: Admin but can not view config transfer status from all users.

WebUploader: Read/Write but requires approval from an Admin. No access is granted to the desktop NCM application.

WebDownloader: Read only access with ability to download configs. No access is granted to the desktop NCM application.

WebViewer: Read only access. No access is granted to the desktop NCM application.

None: No access to NCM functionality.

Ahh, You've made my day. Apparently the group was configured as a Webuploader. I've changed this to Admin and now it works (even automatic login in NCM :-) ).
