External Database

Hi Guys,

Can anyone assist here,

I want to install WHD on my widows machine but I have been battling to connect to the external databases.

Both the SQL and MYSQL database servers. MYSQL throws an unable to connect to the Database server which I think this might have to do with the JDBC driver

and also the version of MYSQL on my Server. But I have installed SQL Sever to my local server but it is still not connecting.

The SQL database has been created and tested but still am not winning am using my server name which is ATS-FS in the IP or Host name field.

Anything am doing wrong?

Your assistance will be much appreciated.

So your Database MySQL machine in Linux, WHD will need the JDBC connector installed from the Oracle Dev Web site see Page 313 of the Admin Guide

For MS-SQL you will need a local sa user credentials and the machine DNS name or IP as it will new database create rights

If you could supply the MySQL DB & JDBC versions we could verify.

MS-SQL should be fine, if it is a Vanilla install, has TCP/IP been enabled?

Attached See my Server details but there is no JDBC installed on this, is it mandatory to have it installed.

Maybe just a to be clarified, do I user the database username or the local SQL username?

I am actually using my local sa user credentials.

Maybe let me say this, I have installed the SQL express 2012 on our local and am installing the WHD on my local PC but am using the SQL Server credentials to connect to the SQL database. Can this in anyway have effect on my failure to successfully connect to the database. In the Host name I have actually put my server and my named instance. SolarwindsWHD is my Database name.
