I've been asked today for about 10 different reports detailing different parts of the infrastructure.
The users keep approaching me with reports from the old monitoring system and telling me they want something like the old reports.
I look at the old reports and realise they make no sense, the servers aren't being monitored, the metrics being reported on are confusing and don't mean anything, they are using vague QoS information.
The reports detail servers from unique subnets, unique domains and applications that used to be monitored with the old monitoring package but have not yet been added into Solarwinds.
So I thought it would be great to have a form for users to fill in to request a report from Solarwinds, has anyone come across such a form?
What sort of fields should go on such a form?
When they present me with a report and say I want this... how do I politely say, lets think about the information presents, we can do this better, we can't do that, but we can do this instead?
Its hard work...
