Device Type : Cisco NXOS has not yet had this functionality added. Skipping this device

Hello,

I'm desperatly trying to backup the configs of our Nexus (7000 and 5000) with the free version and it fails though I filled all required fields.

Is there anything to configure on the switch side (feature enabling) ?

“... has not yet had this functionality added. Skipping this device”, normally means that the activity you have chosen is not supported by the device type.

If you are trying to backup the device with the ‘Device.Backup.TFTP’ activity, then this is the problem (it's not supported on the Cisco NXOS device type). Try using the ‘Device.Backup.Running config’ activity instead.

Its probably not that TFTP fails on the NXOS, it's that the activity has not been added to the device type in CatTools as there has not been the demand for it.

The reasons we may look at added the Device.Backup.TFTP activity is if:

a) the device does not support a 'show running' or similar type command to display the config to the terminal window;

b) the 'show running' or similar command does not show the FULL device configuration which is sufficient to reload back to the device if you need to restore it. (for example a VLAN database .dat file may need to be backed up separately via TFTP).
