Pardon the ignorance I'm new to the Orion products. If this is posted in the wrong form or has been already answered please direct me to the correct place. We are just in the looking phase right now so I'm not even a customer yet. I'd like to deploy Orion VOIP monitoring (and maybe some other addons) to be able to monitor several Polycom Codecs we own. We have around 30 different units spread out over 6 different locations. So here is a list of my questions:
.) If we don't have any Cisco switches with IP SLA can we still monitor VOIP? If all I have access to is the Polycom Codecs and none of the switches or routers can I still monitor VOIP? What if I don't have a Cisco router but my devices are still connected to Cisco switches?
.) What if all the Codec's aren't on the same network? Can we use SNMP Traps to effectilvly monitor units on another private network? Or is there a better solution than SNMP Traps?
.) What do I need in order to send email or SMS messages to a cell phone?
.) I have all the MIB's for the various end points (codecs). If they aren't already a part of the software will I be able to get help installing them?
.) I noticed a place to pick which audio codec you wanted to similate a connection with. Is there a way to simulate a video connection? Or is the same data you get from simulating an audio connection close enough to a full blow Video Conference call that simulating a Video Conference isn't necessary?
