Solarwards Network Performance Monitor-Logs TOO big

Our database (sql) has grown beyond its licensed limit. Solarwinds is the only thing installed on this server.  We have our routers syslogging "notification" and our firewalls (pix/asa) logging "errors"

 

I figured Solarwinds would just overwrite old logs when it became full. But this is not the case. How can I go about setting up solarwinds to overwrite old logs. Our sql database is huge and we can't even access it. Getting tons of errors.

The best thing to do is to go into the Solarwinds Syslog Viewer and set the "retention time" to a lower limit... My guess is you are at 180 days, and unless you find that information useful, I would lower it to 7-21 days.

In order to clean your database out, I would recommend truncating the syslog table (you will lose all previous data however) - I would take a backup of the db before doing any maintenance on the tables.
