While adding computer giving error !!

Hi All,

I was trying to add a computer in patch manager but it giving error please check and provide some solution.

What all have you tried? What does the "show me why" say? I'd like to be of more help, but I need more information to work with.

You have a lot of strange errors. Please contact solarwinds support.

As for the question is patch manager hard to use? Yes it is. It is not user friendly or intuitive in any way. It took me months to get used to it and years to become very proficient with it and I don't think I've mastered it yet.

It is a very good tool however. I just wish it got developed more by solarwinds

Dear frgpugs by your experience will you please share the procedure or steps required to add a computer in patch manager. that will help me a lot.

This is all outlined in the admin guide but I'll do my best from memory at 11pm using my phone.

Download and install the patch manager package. Run through the configuration wizard and input your WSUS server info and either use the sql express that comes with it or enter the info for a remote sql database. Once it's installed enter in your admin credentials that patch manager is going to use to communicate with the computers. Set up discovery tasks for your domain or domains. Set up inventory tasks for WSUS and the patch manager server. Create and distribute a WSUS self signed certificate so third party apps can be installed. Once a pc is connected to the lan it will appear in the unassigned target group. You will need to go through and create and target groups you want and approve updates for them.

I'm sure I missed stuff, but just follow the admin guide, it's all there. If you still have problems open a ticket with support
