So I have noticed that the availability reports report on the average per node, and not a group availability. so is it possible to a have an average of the entire group ? Like one average percentage for all nodes selected?

Yes this can be easily done by adding the nodes to a group (Settings -> Manage Groups) and running the OOTB "Group Availability Report". The report will only have data from the time you create the group.
