MAPI User Experience + Multiple Exchange Servers

Hi All

I'm a new ipMonitor user and need some assistance\clarification on using the MAPI User experience monitor with multiple exchange servers
I've installed + configured a default MAPI profile on the ipMonitor server and have been able to successfully setup a monitor for a mailbox on 1 exchange server
I did this by using the Credentials that matched the MAPI profile I was using and sending the test email to the same account eg:

• Send From: ipmonitor@domain
• Send To: administrator@domain (mailbox on exchange server 1)
• Credentials used: administrator@domain
• MAPI Profile used: administrator@domain

So far so good, but when I try to test using a different address to send to then things go off the rails eg:

• Send From: ipmonitor@domain
• Send To: othermailbox@domain (mailbox on exchange server 2)
• Credentials used: administrator@domain
• MAPI Profile used: administrator@domain

The test email gets sent successfully but I get time out errors (The remote device timed out before sending a response).
The Credential being used can access the mailbox that the test email is being sent to

Any tips etc on what I'm doing wrong?

Hello Batessmart,

Essentially you need to repeat the following article for every account you wish to check Email delivery for:

You also need to create a Credential which points to the domain account that corresponds to the mailbox you are checking.  The fact that you are using the same Credential for both Monitors will not work because when it initializes the MAPI engine using that account, it uses the default mail profile setup within that account (see article linked above).  Also, the Credentials you give it must be accounts that are a member of the same domain as the ipMonitor system.

So in a nutshell, here's what you would do:

1. Create a Test1 domain account with a mail box on exchange1 server.
2. Create a Test2 domain account with a mail box on exchange 2  server.
3. Login to ipMonitor system as Test1 domain account and setup Mail Profile and Outlook to send and retrieve email.
4. Logout.
5. Login to ipMonitor system as Test2 domain account and setup Mail Profile and Outlook to send and retrieve email.
6. Configure Monitor 1 to use Credential for Test1 domain account and enter TO email address for Test1 account.
7. Configure Monitor 2 to use Credential for Test2 domain account and enter TO email address for Test 2 account.

That should be all.
