Help identifying unknown nodes

Hello,

Quick question for you all. I have multiple devices in Solarwinds that have only an IP. There is no OS listed, no device type, just an IP. I can also not RDP into these device. I was wondering if anyone has any tips on finding out what a device is when you only have an IP. Is this possible? I imagine that most of these items are things that we wouldnt want to monitor anyway, but SW is picking them up and I would like to know what they are.

I typically use Nmap (Zenmap with GUI) for this scenario. It's a free tool and is simple and effective. It might not always be able to identify the OS, but you can at least see what ports are open to get a pretty good idea.
