How to get Circuit ID & Contact info when Site goes down.

I am new to the ORION but Help me ...

we have alert set up such that when node/Cisco Router goes down it send the email to the Group.

By default message we have is " Offsite router ${SysName} with IP address ${IP_Address} is down.

${Description}"

What I am trying to figure out that where this description is pulled off , Because to me it's not any value because Orion does provide you the IOS version & code you are running on IOS Image & operation field.

I am trying to figure how this variable name associated so I can send the Circuit ID & Vendor contact information ( which can be used by the receiving group).

You can add custom properties (there are many built-in, just not enabled), but you can't add them via the web interface.

Log into the Orion server (i.e. RDP or KVM), and look for the tool called Custom Property Editor (under the Grouping and Access Control shortcut menu by default).

For what you're trying to do, you'll want to add the new property to the Node, not Interface. (You can add it to interface, but unless you're polling/alerting on the interface status, it won't do you any good). After you've added the new custom properties, they should be available within the web interface (and in the Custom Property Editor application).

In your alert, use the following variable ${Node.custompropertyname}.

Also, do you have custom properties assigned to the node that have the Circuit ID and Vendor contact info?

On Custom Propery I have only comment field specify as OFFSITE. Can I add another Customer field or I just have to use city or department & I can just put ${City} to gather CID & Vendor contact.

Adding custom properties is how I get around this.

I added 4 fields to the Interface tables - A bit more legwork up front, but makes things SO much easier when you get that page a 2 in the AM to call in a ticket.. All the info is right in the email.
