Hi all, I'd like to use SSL wildcard with WHD appliance (not Windows server),
Does anyone have done it, is it possible, if so how?
Any reply will be much appreciated.
Cheers
I'm not sure if a 'wildcard' cert will work (it may - i just haven't fielded that particular question before so i am not sure).
Here is some basic info on SSL cert for linux with WHD: Apply an SSL certificate to Web Help Desk in Linux via command line interface - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Supp…
I do see that some people use a wildcard cert (https using a wildcart certificate ) for their WHD environment, so i don't see why you couldn't for your virtual appliance install of WHD.
Thank you kellytice for all your help! Looks like it might work in WHD appliance since it can be done in Windows environment.
Would you know if I still need to generate CSR since I already have wildcard.crt cert file?
I would not think so because from my understanding a .CRT is one of the types of formats you would get back from submitting the .CSR to your CA. I'm not much of a 'cert guy' though so I will admit i don't know for sure. Typically when it comes to certs i know just enough to squeak by (usually).
