Double Login Issue for ProCurve Switches

Hi,

I have a problem trying to get CatTools to login to some particular HP ProCurve switches. The issue is HP's, but the switches are EOL and there will be no more IOS updates released, so i'm hoping you guys could advise on a work around.

The problem is caused by enabling AAA authentication for Telnet and SSH access on the switch. When AAA is enabled on the switch, the IOS prompts for user credentials twice when accessing via Telnet or SSH. I can't work out how to get CatTools to deal with this.

Here's the process to login with AAA enabled:

1. login as: pstone

2. We'd like to keep you up to date about:

Ha, I worked this out!! Literally as I hit reply I realised what I needed to do!!

So after the first login, the switch then prompts with 'Please Enter Login Name:', therefore this needs to be added to the 'Device Information > Prompts > Username prompt:' field.

And likewise, 'Please Enter Password:' needs to be added to, 'Device Information > Prompts > Password prompt:' field.

I've just tested and successfully backed up the device config.

Hope someone else finds that useful!

What messages are you seeing in the CatTools Info Log pane when trying to connect to this device?

Hi Steve,

Sorry for the long delay in replying! I've not been able to work on this for the last few weeks.

When I run a device backup job, I can see that CatTools authenticates ok once, and then I see the following;

Waiting for command prompt

Waiting for enable password prompt

Waiting for an echo of enable command

DeviceHostNameID: NT7-DST-01

CatTools then finishes the job with the message: Did not receive username prompt when entering enable mode
