web help desk tech account from active directory

Dear Team,

I have search and could not find way to convert client account from active direcotry to tech account or admin account.. when i try to create tech account still whd asking for entring all details like user name password, which should appear or linked with of active directory.

You can't convert a client to a technician. You need to create a technician account that can be linked to a client. Also, you can no longer give your technicians the convenience of using their AD credentials to log into WHD. @Solarwinds made that mandatory unfortunately.

A tech can still log in with AD credentials as long as their client account is linked to their tech account.

All of our tech accounts are linked to their respective client accounts, and none can logon with AD credentials. They have to use the password that is set for the tech account in Solarwinds. Such a stupid change so they didn't have to fix their security problem.

I found another comment in a different thread that said it will work if you made the tech username not match the client username. I made this change on our system, and that allows AD auth for the technician finally. It looks like the system is authenticating against the tech first which causes the failure since it doesn't allow AD auth. If SolarWinds just made it check the client first, then it would just work properly and the ridiculous mobile site that has not been updated since SolarWinds bought the WebHelpDesk product would work as well.

Just to be clear, the consequence of this change is the mobile site only allows the tech username to login which no longer matches the AD username and has a locally stored password.
