SQL Sentry 2026.3 is here, delivering a more capable SQL Sentry Portal experience with SSAS monitoring, grid exports, an additional Entra authentication option, and new filters for deadlocks and wait events.

SSAS Instance Support
SQL Sentry’s web Portal now brings SSAS observability to both MDX and Tabular instances, giving teams a consistent way to monitor analytical workloads without switching to the desktop client. Review target details, performance metrics, SSAS Usage Totals, and Top Commands in one place to identify issues faster and keep your SSAS environment running smoothly.
At a glance, use the corresponding icons to quickly distinguish Tabular and MDX SSAS targets. Both target types include Top Commands for focused performance analysis, while MDX targets also provide SSAS Usage Totals to help you understand workload activity and prioritize troubleshooting across your SSAS environment.
Entra Password Authentication
SQL Sentry now supports Microsoft Entra Password authentication for SQL Server targets, including Azure SQL Managed Instances. With Entra Password authentication, users can connect with their existing Microsoft Entra username and password. This option is well-suited for cloud-first, hybrid, and multi-domain environments, helping simplify credential management while extending secure SQL Sentry monitoring across your environment.
Export from Grids
SQL Sentry Portal grid data can now be exported as a CSV file for use outside SQL Sentry. Share findings with database administrators, application teams, and stakeholders who may not have access to the Portal, analyze data in spreadsheets and reporting tools, and preserve snapshots for future comparison.
Choose between two export options, both of which honor the selected date range:
- Full Export: Ignores the grid’s filters and exports every row and column in the grid across all pages, using the grid’s default sort order. Use this option when you need the complete dataset for analysis or reporting.
- Export Current View: Exports exactly what you see in the grid across all pages, honoring your filters, selected columns, column order, and sort order. Use this option when you need a focused export tailored to your current analysis.
Filter Deadlocks
Is your SQL Sentry experience overwhelmed by a flood of deadlock information? SQL Sentry now lets you exclude deadlocks associated with specific applications, hosts, or logins. This reduces noise from runaway processes while preserving the information you need for effective troubleshooting.
On some SQL Server instances, runaway processes can generate enough deadlocks to affect SQL Sentry performance. Rather than disabling deadlock logging for the entire instance and losing valuable troubleshooting data, you can now use filters to reduce noise while retaining relevant details.
Choose a filter based on the source of the unwanted deadlocks:
- Application: Filter by application name
- Host: Filter by host name
- Login: Filter by login name
Filter Wait Events
Is your wait-event data crowded with expected or repetitive activity that makes meaningful performance signals harder to identify? SQL Sentry now provides controlled backend filtering to suppress low-value wait types, helping you focus operational analysis on the waits that matter. One of the most common use cases will likely be filtering excessive “wait for” waits, especially when a routine process generates them repeatedly which can make it harder to spot waits that signal a real problem.
