How to Delete ALL Assets at once from Other Assets

Hello. On SolarWinds Service Desk. I need to see if you can delete ALL Assets from the Other Assets. We accidentally imported 2 asset spreadsheets and it  made thousands of duplicates and errors. I just want to delete ALL the assets so I can start over and import the correct spreadsheet. It will only let me delete 100 assets at a time. That will take forever and I would like to just wipe it clean and get rid of all of them. There must be an easy way to purge and start over. Please help.

You can do it pretty easily if you're comfortable giving the API a shot (ref: https://apidoc.samanage.com/#tag/Other-Asset/operation/deleteAssetById )

Having it depend on a provided list rather than doing it ALL in script is something of a safeguard, but make sure you understand it and it does what you think it should

You'd just need an API token and the list of unique IDs.

SWSD makes it pretty easy to get the IDs. Just got to other assets > actions > Export CSV - All columns

When you open up the csv, it'll have a bunch of stuff, but the first column should be IDs

Basically, locate yourself in users, click generate.

Once you have the file and a token, Powershell and foreach will take it from there:

$headers.Add("X-Samanage-Authorization", "Bearer $apitoken")

Invoke-RestMethod "https://api.samanage.com/other_assets/$asset" -Method 'Delete' -Headers $headers

it's a little verbose, but pop your info into the brackets[ ].

First line is where you put your token
Second line is the full path to your CSV export that has all your IDs
Next 3 lines set up the headers for the API call.

$assetlist.ID should spit out a list of the the IDs if you do it by itself. Foreach ($asset… takes the IDs one at a time, assigns them to $asset, then runs the line of script in the curly brackets { }.

Invoke-restmethod just puts it all together:
invoke the rest method 'Delete' at specified url (which happens to the the url for one of your other assets), cram all the header stuff that's needed authenticate and communicate properly.
