SQL Sentry 2026.1 Release
SolarWinds is proud to announce the GA release of SQL Sentry 2026.1! In this release, SQL Sentry supports OAuth 2.0 for alert emails, expands observability to include agent jobs held within contained availability groups, and we’re continuing to make progress on building out the web portal.
SQL Sentry 2026.1 release notes
OAuth 2.0 for MS Exchange Online
For increased security, Microsoft is phasing out basic SMTP authentication for Exchange Online in favor of OAuth 2.0. Per Microsoft, the phase-out will occur starting March 2026. This is important if you have configured SQL Sentry to use your company’s Exchange Online server for alert emails. To avoid disruptions, upgrade to SQL Sentry 2026.1 and change the SMTP settings to Microsoft Exchange Online.
Contained Availability Group - Agent Jobs
SQL Server allows you to create “Contained Availability Groups” (CAGs) to replicate a variety of information to secondary replicas, including agent job information. Of significance is that agent jobs for databases in a CAG are not found in the traditional DMVs, but rather within DMVs that are specific to each CAG. The net result is that a CAG’s agent jobs do not appear on SQL Sentry’s Event Calendar.. until now.
In this release, SQL Sentry is accessing the CAG DMVs and is showing CAG jobs on the Event Calendar. For now, you must manually enable this feature - refer to the SQL Sentry 2026.1 release notes for details.

SQL Sentry Portal Progress
We continue to build out SQL Sentry’s web portal. In this release, we’ve made numerous usability improvements, including the ability to set a user’s login in User Administration, view execution plan step tooltips, and a better view of alerts that re-orders the columns such that identifying columns are on the left. Look for further Portal expansion in the coming releases!
