Is this "Database Peformance Analyzer - Subscription (Linux)" (you can Google "aws marketplace dpa subscription" as well) still valid?
I tried reaching out to dpa-aws@solarwinds.com (listed on this page) and it bounced. My Sales contact at Solarwinds for my upcoming renewal isn't aware of this subscription option and hasn't been able to get me the information I need to confirm how it works.
I'm trying to switch because my renewal quote came in at ~3x my last year's cost. Apparently, they've switched to "Flex" licenses and are getting away from the old Category-based licenses.
The subscription page (in my case 5-19 databases at $0.129 "cost/hr/hr") would be significantly cheaper than paying my renewal quote. Is that $0.129/database-monitored per hour? So 15 dbs would be 15 * $0.129/hr * 24h/day * 365d/yr = ~$17k (plus the cost of the whatever-size EC2 instance to run the software on.)
If anyone is currently using a DPA AWS Marketplace subscription, could you explain how that works?
So while I am an existing and long-time customer (I've been using this since the product was w/the previous vendor Confio and called Ignite) and very much like DPA, I don't like it enough to pay 3x (and couldn't pay that much even if I did want to pay that much.)
Thank you,
PH
